Baraat

The Baraat is a vibrant groom's procession, a key part of Indian weddings, involving lively music, dancing, and an entrance to the ceremony site, symbolizing the groom's journey and the joining of families, culminating in the bride's family warmly welcoming him with garlands (Milni) and rituals. For destination weddings, it's about blending tradition with the location's flair, ensuring comfortable shoes, a fun playlist (dhol drums are a must!), and incorporating local elements for a personalized, high-energy celebration.

Event Continuation from Baraat to Bride Entry

An Indian bride walking down the aisle is a symbolic procession, often under a Phoolon ki Chadar (flower canopy) held by her family, representing her transition from her family's care to her new life, signifying blessings, protection, and love as she begins her journey to the mandap (altar) for the marriage rites.

Jaimala (Garland Exchange)

The Jaimala (garland exchange) welcomes the couple as husband and wife, symbolizing mutual acceptance, while the Saptapadi (seven steps) is the core Hindu ritual where the couple takes seven steps around a sacred fire, making seven vows for a lifelong, prosperous, and spiritual union, binding them for seven lifetimes.

Saptapadi (7 Vows)

The Saptapadi, which means "seven steps" in Sanskrit, is such a beautiful and meaningful part of a Hindu wedding. It's when the bride and groom walk seven circles around a sacred fire (Agni) together, each step symbolizing a special promise for their lifelong journey—covering aspects like companionship, Prosperity, health, family, and spiritual growth. These vows create a strong, unbreakable bond, beautifully reflecting their spiritual and legal union. It's a wonderful visual reminder of the friendship, trust, and mutual support that form the heart of their marriage.

Sindoor & Mangalsutra

The groom ties a beaded necklace, known as the ‘mangal sutra’, around the bride’s neck and applies sindoor, a sacred red powder, to the bride’s forehead.

Mangalsutra and sindoor are symbols of a blessed marriage and are worn by married women.

Dear Family and Friends,
Your presence at our wedding—whether you're attending in person or celebrating from afar—is truly the most meaningful gift we could receive.
As we will be settling into a fully furnished home, we genuinely don't need anything for our household. We also kindly request ‘no boxed gifts’ to prevent any logistical issues with extra luggage for yourself and us.
We are deeply touched by the many thoughtful inquiries regarding a token of kindness to mark the occasion. Your affection and warm wishes mean more to us than anything else. For those who insist on contributing, options are shared below.

We are incredibly grateful for your love and the role you play in our lives.

With heartfelt gratitude and love,
